Join us for the Schertz Family YMCA Polar Bear 5K & Plunge on January 10, 2026, at Pickrell Park in Schertz, TX! Whether you're a seasoned runner chasing a personal record, a casual walker soaking in the fun, or a bold daredevil ready to take the plunge, this event is packed with excitement for everyone!
At the Y, we believe in Healthy Living, Social Responsibility, and Youth Development! —this event is about more than just crossing the finish line. Your participation supports the Schertz Family YMCA’s scholarship program and community initiatives, helping local youth, families, and individuals access vital programs and resources, regardless of financial barriers.
🏃♀️ THE 5K RACE
Get ready to race through the scenic trails of Pickrell Park in a timed 5K event! Competitive runners will hit the course first, followed by walkers, strollers, and anyone in between. Whether you're sprinting for a new personal best or taking a relaxed stroll with friends and family, every step counts toward making a difference!
🥶 THE POLAR BEAR PLUNGE
After the race, it’s time for the ultimate winter thrill! Only the bravest souls will dare to take a dip in the icy waters—but don’t worry, we’ll be waiting with steaming hot cocoa, toasty fire pits, and family-friendly activities to warm you up after your frosty feat!
All 5k participants will receive a commemorative moisture-wicking event t-shirt and a participation medal. If you are participating in the Polar Bear Plunge ONLY, you will receive a commemorative Polar Bear Plunge cotton T-Shirt!
To guarantee your shirt and medal, be sure to register by December 14, 2025. This event will take place rain or shine—so come prepared for whatever weather Texas has in store!

- Late Registration - 11/1/2025 – 1/10/2026 $65 (Register by 12/14/25 to Guarantee your Race Shirt!)
Polar Bear Plunge Only:
