Join us for this regional event benefitting the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, CCF. This is a regional event to help local patients, bring awareness to this insidious, silent killer, and develop a cure within 10 years.
Cholangiocarcinoma, CC or bile duct cancer, the THIRD leading cause of ALL cancer deaths, is increasing in children and adults 4% per year, and since 2000 has the SECOND highest rate of increase of all cancers. An estimated 11,000 people in the United States develop cholangiocarcinoma each year and the mortality rate has increased dramatically in the last decade especially in the 20-30 age group. Cholangiocarcinoma, or bile duct cancer, is a rare cancer. Of the top 8 deadliest cancers, 7 are rare. Rare cancers have a 5-year survival rate under 50%, with cholangiocarcinoma the average survival from time of diagnosis is 5 months.
It is estimated at least 30 people in Williamson County will die due to “liver cancers” in 2025.
This race is also in honor of Michelle, who at age 47, was taken in the prime of her life following a heroic five-month battle with this disease. This event rallies friends, family and, the greater community around the cause of raising funds to fund research efforts and treatments for cholangiocarcinoma.
100% of the net proceeds from our event will help The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, CCF, the leading global CC nonprofit, to fund research to find a cure and improve the quality of life for CC patients.
Since 2018, Michelle’s Hot Peeps Beat CC 5K has raised enough money to fully fund a full year’s research grant. Proceeds from 2024 will enable 20 cholangiocarcinoma patients to attend the 12th Annual CCF Conference free of charge. Michelle’s Race is one of the longest-running and most significant fundraisers in the Foundation’s history. Our collective efforts can lift each other in our most difficult times.
Each donor plays a role in buying more time, more treatment options, and within the next 10 years…. finding a cure.
